This is a recording of the sounds of bell from the Victoria Memorial Hall Clock tower, 1pm on Saturday 30th March 2019. These bells toll everyday decorating the soundscape around Victoria Memorial Hall since the clock was operated from 1st February 1907. These constant sounds went through many changes (including any changes to the soundscape of Singapore!). As long as this clock hadn’t broken or the Victoria Memorial Hall building was being renovated and the clock removed, then these sounds would continue on. It is a remnant of the past, present, and future of this small country. If you walk through the banks of Singapore River near the Asian Civilization Museum, you will hear it.
